The International Standardized Testing Organization ("ISTO") provides a global examination and certification service to individuals who wish to demonstrate their understanding of international and other standards. The ISTO examinations facilitate:

• A focus on understanding, rather than on training • The opportunity for individuals to acquire knowledge by home study or distance learning • A basis for the responsible dissemination of knowledge by training organizations • The opportunity for professionals to acquire additional qualifications, as part of their continuing professional development • Selection and/or qualification of staff by employers • The possibility for professionals to demonstrate their understanding of international and other standards, with the ISTO certificate as objective evidence • The demonstration of an individual's competence, with the understanding of the international or other standard as an important component • Greater credibility for the standards themselves
